Vehicles for transporting students to off-campus locations are available from three sources:
Please note that if you need to park outside of normal, marked parking spaces, a loading/service permit will be required.
Zipcar [ Zipcar on the web ]
22 Zipcar vehicles are parked in various designated spots around campus. Vehicles must be reserved and driven by a person with a Zipcar account.
Please note the following important points for Zipcar usage:
- Faculty, staff, or students can reserve and drive provided they have a Zipcar account
- Registration processing can take up to 7 days
- You must be between 21 - 75 years old to get or join an account
- Licensed to drive in the US for at least 5 years
- No major speed violations (16+ mph over the limit) in the last 3 years
- No major driving violations (DUI, aggressive, careless, reckless driving) in the last 5 years
- No more than 2 minor violations or accidents in the last 3 years
- Vehicles can be reserved months in advance, however usage is first come, first serve
A service/loading permit can be used for temporary parking outside the marked Flexcar parking spaces (i.e. parking and loading between buildings). Refer to the loading permits section for instructions for obtaining a loading/service permit.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car [ Enterprise on the web ]
The Enterprise location we use is located at SW 4th & Pine St. (map). You can contact them directly at 503.275.5359. Please note the following important points for Enterprise usage:
- Enterprise can deliver your vehicle for an extra $5, or they will pick you up and bring you to their office for free
- Need a valid US drivers license (need not be issued in Oregon)
- You will need the PSU direct bill number (D346W68) and your university index code
- Give 2+ hours notice for cars; 24+ hours for vans and SUVs
- 12-passenger vans are the largest vehicle available for PSU
- Must be 25+ years of age to drive 12-passenger vans
State Motor Pool
The State Motor Pool is located on Swan Island at 6400 N. Cutter Circle (map). Please note the following important points for using Motor Pool vehicles:
A loading/service parking permit is available for short-term parking. If the vehicle must be parked for all or part of the day, the driver can stop at the parking attendant in PS1, PS3, UCB, or UPL parking areas and obtain a permit for free. Vehicles with E-plates can park on campus for free, but must obtain a permit.
Loading Permits
All types of parking permits can be obtained from the Trasportation & Parking office in the Neuberger Hall lobby. Most permits do not need to be set up in advance, but can be to ensure the group or department has the proper permit for the required time(s).
A one-time-use loading permit for 30 minutes or less is free of charge can be picked up at the Transportation & Parking windows in Neuberger without prior arrangements.
An ongoing or frequent-use 30-minute permit can be issued for various locations around campus to departments or individual faculty/staff members. These permits must be arranged in advance but can be used for an entire academic term or year. To obtain this type of permit, contact Cara Martin at 503.725.4213 or martinck@pdx.edu.
The permit must be displayed on/in the vehicle at all times while parked.
